And they’re off!  On 25^thNovember and after months of fundraising, preparation and putting on two stone in weight,  two brave young men Tom Dignum (26) and Chris Howard (26) have finally picked up the oars and begun their three month,  2,500 (Nautical mile) journey to raise money for Parkinson’s UK, by rowing across the Atlantic  from Gran Canaria to Barbados.

Here at System Force we have been involved in the challenge for a while as we are providing IT support to their crossing.  We are tracking their progress and making sure the high-tech satellite navigation systems we installed for them are working properly and, crucially, they are able to call for help should they need it. 

The day before the boys set off we were involved in fully testing the systems, to make sure every thing is working well !
So far all is good and everything is working as expected.

Henry Walker From Primetech UK (One of the UK’s most professional and technical mobile and Static Satellite companies), contact Jez, and asked if we could help with providing a base to work on the install of all the equipment for both documenting the trip and the all important life line, so should they get in trouble they have a way of calling for help !
On Saturday the boat and Tom and Chris, with Henry and Simon all turned up ready to get to work, Henry and Jez started working on the camera systems and cabling while Simon was working on installing the software needed for the communication.
Later on the systems were fitted and it was seen that we needed to make further modifications to the systems to make sure they are going to be 100% reliable. With all of the cameras in and the wiring jobs done, it was time to have some photos taken.

We wish Chris and Tom all the best for their trip and just remember boys “We will be watching !”

We at System Force I.T. encountered the following error  on one of our customer’s systems when upgrading to Payroll Year End 2011: Having made a FULL BACKUP of Sage Payroll prior to starting the installation (as you should always do)  we were not too concerned about the error, but wanted a quick fix.

 After installation, and the following reboot, when first logging in to sage after selecting the appropriate company and trying to login, this error appears:

PAY5: OPEN sgtbl_AccessRights Recordset open failed.

To rectify this, we were instructed to close down sage (by clicking ok to any further errors that came up, then logging off and closing the sage window)

Then browse to the sage installation folder, eg. C:\Program Files\Sage\Payroll

Run the following program:

Dbutilities.exe

Then Select the appropriate company database by left clicking on it so that it is highlighted.

Then choose:

“Clear Locks”

Then when that completes (usually in seconds) choose:

  Repair:

Upon completion of the repair (can take several minutes) close dbutilities.exe, re-open sage, Make another FULL BACKUP (with a different name) and the problem should be resolved.
